Trains, Trains, Trains

Welcome back to our new term. It has been a rather strange start, as we are learning from home. However, this hasn't stopped our children from beginning our new topic 'The Wheels on the Bus'.

This term we will be learning about different ways of travelling and the different places we can travel to.

First, we have been learning about trains, based on one of our favourite books - The Train Ride.

Thank you to all of the children who have been busy creating a picture or model of a train. Children have been drawing, painting, modelling, cutting and sticking and even woodwork (with a little help from dad).

Well done. Your trains are amazing!

The very hungry caterpillar

We have loved watching our caterpillars grow.
The changes were amazing.

Today, we released the caterpillars.
They flew straight to the bright yellow flowers in our garden.

Don't forget to look out for our Painted Ladies!
They may visit our local parks and gardens.

Tiddalick the frog

This week we have been listening to the story of Tiddalick the frog.
It's an Aboriginal Dreamtime story.

We've also been looking at Aboriginal art and creating our own version of Australian creatures.

We've got green fingers

We have been learning about how to grow plants.

The children have shown some great understanding about what a plant needs, in order for it to grow.

We've had the perfect weather to be growing seeds.
Take a look at the amazing plants the children are caring for.

Handa's Surprise

This week we have been reading 'Handa's Surprise'.
The children have been busy writing about the book,

tasting new fruit,

as well as being creative with modelling resources.

The model fruit looks good to eat!
